Dear Yuletide Santa,

First of all, let me apologize for taking so long to post this.

Secondly, thanks for offering to be my Santa and write me a story that I’d probably otherwise be very unlikely to see. You are already tr
és awesome just for doing that. I’m sure that anything you write me is going to make me full of squee on Christmas Day.

Anyway, I’d like to think that I was decently specific in my requests and hopefully gave you enough freedom to come up with something you will find entertaining to do as well, but in case I didn’t, here’s a little more info about me and my requests this year:

For starters, if you’re going to write me something sexy, you should know, I’m not the hugest fan of porn without plot. I like my sexing to have characterization in it. It doesn’t have to be War and Peace or Gormenghast, and the sexing can even be for fairly random reasons, but I like to find out something about my characters in the midst of my porn, even if it’s just a small detail, or something non-canonical about them you want to create, or just your take on their personality in canon. I want the characters to mean something to each other, even if that something is negative.

Also, while I certainly like other elements like humor, sweetness, and darkness in my porn, I am a giant, unrepentant emo!porn queen. Yup. I’ve learned to name it and love it. I love tragic relationships, c.f. my requests for Stansfield/Malky (The Professional), which I see as totally full of wrong, and Rusty/Dr. Girlfriend (Venture Brothers), which is obviously pretty doomed. If you know the Battlestar Galactica 2003 fandom at all, my OTP is Baltar/Gaeta, so that might give you some idea of what I mean.

Oh, and by the way, if you write the Wall.E story, my request implied but did not say this specifically: I’d really like this story to stay asexual. Don’t know if that really needed to be said, but just in case there was any doubt.

If you write me something atmospheric and kind of plotless, that’s good too. I love character studies, so something that’s just essentially one character meditating on an idea or another character could be wonderful. Some of my favorite fics have been ones that took the unseen moments before a crucial moment in canon and showed a character’s point of view on the situation. I love “deleted scenes” fic, and ones that show pre-canon or post-canon information or perspectives are great too.

Finally, if you want to write me something plotty, by all means, go right ahead. As stated before, characterizations and the nuances of character interactions fascinate me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy plot twists and turns in a story.

All that being said, while I’ve made some pretty specific requests here, I really appreciate that you’re willing to do this at all, so I want to give you the freedom to  go rogue if you need to. ;)  So if you just can’t figure out what the heck to do with my request in that one fandom of my four that you even know, go ahead and just write whatever makes you happy, gen, slash, femmeslash, het, whatever. Write other characters in the fandom than the ones I’ve requested. If writing a crossover with a fandom that really speaks to you would help, here are some other fandoms I’m interested in, in no particular order: Battlestar Galactica 2003, Firefly, Heroes, Veronica Mars, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Babylon 5, Lost, The West Wing, Jekyll, Black Books, Dark Angel, anything with Simon Pegg, Rome, A Song of Ice and Fire series, Discworld and the Dune novels.  A good piece of writing comes when the writer is inspired, and I’ll just be glad to get a fic the writer enjoyed doing.

Again, thanks so much for giving of your time and creativity. I hope you have a very enjoyable Yuletide experience.
